Country-pop newcomer Abi Ann is premiering her cover of Nancy Sinatra's classic "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" exclusively on The Boot.

The song, originally recorded by Sinatra in 1966 (and later recorded by Jessica Simpson and Geri Halliwell, among others) is a staple in Ann's live shows. The singer puts her own spin on the tune, but its original sass remains. Press play on the video above to watch Ann and her band perform the tune.

"Loving music and boots as I do, what better song to cover than "These Boots Are Made for Walking"?" Ann tells The Boot. "Sing along to my rendition!"

Ann is currently crossing the country as the opening act on the Eli Young Band's Winter Tour, and she spent her summer touring with Kelly Clarkson, on Clarkson's Piece By Piece Tour. The 18-year-old released her EP, 17, earlier this year; it includes the single "Truck Candy," featuring Walker Hayes.

The up-and-comer tells The Boot that she sees music as “[the] way I want to impact society,” partially because she enjoys creating it and performing so much, and partially because she knows the way a song can really make a difference.

“Whenever I hear a song and I really connect to it, that’s my rehab; that’s what I’m listening to if I’m going through a hard time,” Ann explains. “It’s all I’m doing, and it’s my little escape, so providing that escape for people is really a huge goal of mine.”

Ann's 17 EP is available for download on iTunes. A list of her tour stops with the EYB is available on Facebook.
